The inaugural Hub City Brew Fest, presented by the Hop Spot at Hot Spot, the city of Spartanburg and Budweiser of Spartanburg’s Craft Beer Division, is the first of its kind in Hub City and will add to an already festive downtown this weekend alongside Wofford College’s homecoming celebration. It is the brainchild of Vivian and Wilton Jordan, who own the Hot Spot gas station/convenience store chain and are passionate about craft beer and their hometown.
The beer festival will serve as a fundraiser and kickoff campaign for construction of the future Hub City Bike Park, which will be located next to the Hot Spot Skate Park on Union Street and turned over to the city of Spartanburg upon completion.
“People who love craft beer and love Spartanburg really stepped forward to contribute to the festival and to the idea that we can enjoy our ‘new’ downtown, celebrate an emerging community and grow the opportunities for kids to have fun outside — adding another amenity to the Mary Black Rail Trail,” said Vivian Jordan, who praised the help she received from community leaders, individuals, and businesses.
